March: that time of the year “when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold.

GIF with the caption, "Like Great Expectations. Have you read that book?"

With the arrival of the third month of 2023 comes the start of Women’s History Month, daylight savings time, the start of the spring season, whatever the “ides” are, and some kind of college basketball-related hysteria that only happens in March.

Meanwhile in NYC Public Schools, there are a few items that City families and students need to keep in mind this month, including parent-teacher conferences, application deadlines for families seeking fall 2023 admission to the City’s 3-K and Pre-K programs, PSAT/SAT School Day for many of the City’s high school students, the last weeks to submit completed NYC School Surveys, and the start of New York State’s Alternate Assessment (NYSAA) period for select students.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at this month’s schedule and see what’s happening in NYC Public Schools this month, courtesy of our official 2022–23 NYC Public School Calendar.

City public school families, teachers, students, and select staff members can access and complete the 2023 NYC School Survey, and let us know what you think about students’ learning environments, educators, curricula, support services, and more. The information you provide could then help foster new discussions within your school community that can result in making your schools better places to learn.
