It’s time to learn how YOU can take climate action!
On Thursday, June 22, the NYC Department of Education’s Office of Sustainability and its 2022–23 Youth Leadership Council are hosting our annual Youth Climate Career Expo for City high school students.
The expo, which will be held at the High School for Climate Justice in Manhattan from 2 p.m. — 5 p.m., will provide attendees the opportunity to network with fellow students from other high schools and to learn about careers and industries where they can take climate action. Representatives from different organizations who are focused on the environment, climate, or green industries will be there to speak with anyone interested in any of the thousands of climate-related jobs potentially available—including volunteer and internship opportunities—this summer and beyond. Whatever your interests, there’s a climate career path for you!

What are climate careers?
As we begin to deal with the effects of climate change, it’s now more important than ever for us to work together in equitable and just ways to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and transition away from fossil fuels—climate careers provide roles and responsibilities that help lead this vital environmental work. There are thousands of career options out there for those interested in this pathway, and through the Expo, you’ll be able to learn about many of them.
Whatever you’re into, there’s bound to be a path available that can help empower you to take positive climate action!
What will be at the Expo?
Representatives from different organizations, including current employees, will be at the Expo to discuss their environmental, climate, and/or green-related work—stop by and speak with these representatives to learn more about potential opportunities available in the NYC area.
We’ll also have student-led workshops, special speakers, and other fun activities where you can build relationships and discuss big ideas with your climate-minded peers!
