NYC parents: it’s time to “level up” your child’s summer plans!

Summer Rising, the City’s new free summer program for students in grades K–12, is open for registration!

Available citywide, Summer Rising provides NYC students with full day in-person learning experiences that mix academics, the arts, and summer fun together all season long! Organized and run by local school leaders and trusted community-based organizations, Summer Rising allows students to boost their outcomes in the classroom while participating in fun activities, including field trips to local parks, zoos, and other outdoor venues.

All Summer Rising programs will be held in safe and supportive environments that follow rigorous health and safety protocols, including social distancing and mask wearing. In addition, breakfast, lunch, and a snack will be served to each student, and every location will have access to COVID testing, nursing support, and a telehealth call center.

How to Register (K–8 Students)

Families with students in grades K–8 can sign up for Summer Rising through the City’s official program website! All New York City students will have an opportunity to participate in the program, and no student will be turned away.

Here are the details:

  • Search for a Summer Rising program near you on the discoverDYCD webpage;
  • Select your programs, and complete an application.

More programs will be added in the coming weeks—check back weekly, as we will be adding new locations on Mondays. If you cannot find a location in your neighborhood, we suggest you complete our online survey, as we will be in touch with you to help you through the registration process.

Please note that if your student is a City resident who does not attend a DOE school, you should apply to a program that is in your neighborhood.

How to Register (High School Students)

High schools will reach out to students in the coming weeks to discuss summer programs that meet their needs and interests.
