It’s time to talk about this year’s revised Regents Exam schedule.

This June, New York State Regents Examinations will be administered to high school students across the State. Typically given to students in June and August every school year across 10 subject areas, State Regents exams are used to determine students’ readiness for high school graduation while providing helpful metrics for school quality reports and teacher development.

However, due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the State’s students, families, and educators, this year’s Regents exam administration has been changed. Instead, this June, only four Regents exams will be administered to students across the State:

  • English Language Arts — Thursday, June 17
  • Living Environment — Tuesday, June 22
  • Algebra I — Wednesday, June 23
  • Earth Science — Thursday, June 24

In addition, there will be no Regents exams administered in August 2021.

All four exams this June will be administered in person, and all will have both multiple-choice and open-ended questions. Some students are eligible for Regents exam waivers this year—speak with your school counselor to confirm your Regents exam requirements and waiver eligibility.

For more information about this June’s Regents exams, visit our “NY State High School Regents Exams” page, review your NYC School Account to see your progress towards graduation, or speak with your school counselor for further questions.

On behalf of the DOE, we wish all of our high school students success on their State Regents exams!
