Are you an New York City resident between the ages of 14 and 24? Are you legally allowed to work in the U.S. and potentially make a difference in your community?
Then apply for NYC’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)!
SYEP, the nation’s largest youth employment program, helps the City’s young people obtain paid work experience and career exploration opportunities during the summer months. Participants gain valuable workplace experiences while developing their social, civic, and leadership skills—by signing up for SYEP, you will help prepare yourself for future careers!

Opportunities Available Through SYEP
City youth ages 14–24 can obtain paid summer employment through July and August 2021 in entry-level jobs across various industries throughout the five boroughs, including:
- Arts and Recreation
- Educational Services
- Financial Services
- Healthcare/Medical
- Hospitality/Tourism
- Information Technology
- Manufacturing
- Marketing/Public Relations
- Media/Entertainment
- Real Estate/Property
- Retail
In addition to jobs, SYEP also provides paid project-based activities and workshops about job readiness, career exploration, financial literacy, and educational growth. There are also special considerations made for applicants from particular residential communities, select DOE schools, and other circumstances—please visit the “What is SYEP?” webpage to learn more.
Applying for SYEP
To be considered for SYEP this summer, you must apply online by Friday, April 23, 2021.
In addition, you may be asked at some point during your application to provide a picture ID, proof of age, proof of address, working papers (for youth ages 16–17 ONLY), proof of Selective Service registration (males over 18 years old ONLY) and other documentation.
