Did you know that free meals are available daily for any New Yorker who wants them?

As New York battles the COVID-19 pandemic, the NYC Department of Education is providing free meals to City residents across the five boroughs.

Available at more than 400 Meal Hubs throughout the City, delicious and nutritious meals can be picked up from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. All adults and children can pick up multiple meals at one time, and no one will be turned away at any time. No registration or ID is required.

In addition, vegetarian and halal options are available at all sites, and select sites in all five boroughs offer exclusively kosher-certified meals to any resident who requests them. We also have designated “Grab and Go” sites across the City for halal meal service.

To find a Meal Hub near you, check out the DOE’s online “Find a Free Meal Location” tool. You can also see what’s on the menu for breakfast and lunch this month on the DOE’s Free Meals website. (Dates, locations, and menus are subject to change)

Note that during Meal Hubs’ hours of operation (7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday):

  • Children and families are served 7:30 a.m. –11:30 a.m.; and
  • Adults are served from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
