The Morning Bell (TMB), the NYC Department of Education’s official blog, is returning just in time for the start of the 2019–20 school year!
We’ve got a fresh look and feel, and we’re implementing new features that will make it easier for you to get the news and information you need about NYC’s public schools.
In the coming months, look for:
- Improved loading speeds on mobile devices;
- Built-in translation tools that will allow you to view content in languages other than English; and
- Improved access for people with disabilities; TMB will soon be in compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, AA.

Pardon our dust! As we begin building in new features, parts of The Morning Bell might not work or display properly; please let us know if you catch any bugs so we can fix them ASAP!
We’re also adding loads of new content to keep you in the know about our public school system and give you glimpses into the lives of the students, teachers, and staff members who shape it every single day.
As we work to upgrade TMB between now and the first day of school on September 5, parts of the TMB website may not work or display properly. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding—and do let us know if you catch any bugs on the site so that we can squash them right away.
We hope you like what we’re doing to the place! In the meantime, if you haven’t already, please subscribe to The Morning Bell for news, updates, recaps, and previews of the 2019–20 school year.
