G&T programs are one way that the DOE supports the educational needs of exceptional students.

Thinking about participating in New York City’s Gifted & Talented (G&T) admissions process this year?

Between now and Friday, November 9, 2018, families interested in the City’s G&T programs can schedule their students for this year’s G&T Tests. The tests will be given in January 2019, and those who get a high enough score will qualify to apply to G&T programs in spring 2019.

You can schedule your child’s G&T Tests online with MySchools or in person at any of our Family Welcome Centers.

To take G&T Tests, students must be:

  • residents of New York City; and
  • entering kindergarten through third grade in fall 2019.

Families can schedule this year’s G&T Tests online in ten languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Arabic, or in person .

We encourage families of students with disabilities to consider participating in the G&T admissions process, as all G&T programs will provide these students with the services and supports they need. We also encourage English language learners (ELLs) and students in temporary housing to participate in the G&T admissions process.

To learn more about the DOE’s G&T programs and the G&T admissions process, please visit our G&T webpage, or check out our 2019 Kindergarten and Gifted & Talented Admissions Guide (for students born in 2014) and our 2019 Gifted & Talented Admissions Guide for Students Born in 2013, 2012, and 2011.

Remember: families have until Friday, November 9, 2018, to schedule their children for January 2019’s G&T Tests, so secure your child’s testing spot TODAY!
