And just like that, we’re BACK:

A Reenactment of Teachers Entering Their Classrooms During the First Day of School

(cue the confetti!)

Yes, it’s Back to School season here in New York City, which means it’s time for us to once again start getting ready for another year of classes, books, exams, team practices, and viral crazes. (PROTIP: Do NOT mess with moving vehicles or poisonous cleaning liquids.)

As we look ahead to September 2018, we see a month that is chock full of important dates and events for students and families, including the First Day of School, Rosh Hashanah, the year’s first set of Parent-Teacher Conferences, and, of course, the final episode of one of the most influential and imaginative TV shows of the past decade.

So without further ado, let’s see what’s happening in City public schools in September 2018, courtesy of the DOE’s official Schools Calendar.

Some quick notes about this month’s schedule:

Parent-Teacher Conferences:

  • Please be advised that only certain schools are contractually required to host parent-teacher conferences in September. To find out whether a particular school is hosting parent-teacher conferences (or “Family Night”) in September, please contact that school’s parent coordinator.

High School Fairs:

  • This year, the DOE will be hosting High School Fairs across the City to provide families with opportunities to learn about high schools in their boroughs. All fairs will also have workshops where families can review and discuss the City’s high school admissions processes (similar to the workshops held earlier this summer)
  • Fairs will take place on Saturday, September 22, and Sunday, September 23 from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. For registration and address information, visit the DOE’s High School Fair webpage.

We hope everyone has a great first month back in school!
