Hey NYC families: have plans for Spring Recess (April 2–6, 2018)?
Between now and Tuesday, February 27, families with NYC public school students in grades K–8 can apply today for the chance to have their children participate in free and exciting STEM-based enrichment opportunities during Spring Recess through the DOE’s STEM Matters NYC 2018 Spring Break Camp program.
The camp, which will run Monday, April 2 to Friday, April 6 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., will provide selected students with the opportunity to work in one of the following program areas:
- Animal Care
- Engineering Design
- Environmental Conservation
- Marine Biology
- Nature Exploration
- Space Science
- The Art of Science of Photography
- Wildlife Ecology
Students who are selected for the camp will work at sites like the DOE’s Genovesi Environmental Study Center and the NYC Center for Aerospace and Applied Mathematics, as well as the Bronx Zoo, the Museum of the City of New York, and the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, among others.
Accepted students must attend all five days of the camp program; if needed, students will be provided with MetroCards for transportation, as busing will not be provided. In addition, students participating in the camp will need to bring their own meals, as the camp programs will not provide meals to students.
Remember: the application deadline is Tuesday, February 27, 2018, so apply TODAY!
