The Department of Education’s Office of Sustainability and the NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) are proud to announce that all DOE schools will be outfitted with Cafeteria Recycling Stations by September 11.
School cafeterias generate a majority of the waste City schools create every year. By installing Cafeteria Recycling Stations at every school across the five boroughs, we will be providing schools with a great way for students to recycle.
Each Cafeteria Recycling Station will feature a blue bin for metal, glass, plastic, and cartons, a grey bin for general trash, a brown bin for food scraps, and a small white bin for liquids.
These stations are just a small part of the #OneNYC Sustainability plan, the City’s broad effort to transform itself into the most sustainable big city in the world. We thank all of our environmental partners, especially DSNY, for their continued partnership and support of our schools.
