August is here, which means that we’re only just one month away from the start of the 2017-2018 school year.

But one month is, well, a MONTH. So before we get into the hustle, bustle, and excitement of a new school year, let’s take a moment to slow things down, take in the warm summer air, catch up on some summer reading, and ponder some of life’s lighter questions, such as:giphy

Tuesday, August 15 Last Day of Summer School/SITC programs
(High schools only)

Thursday, August 24 Summer SHSAT Exam

Just some quick notes about this month’s schedule:

  • Regents Exams:

    • Check out the Morning Bell’s Summer Regents post to see August’s Regents exam schedule.
    • Need to take a Regents exam this August? Talk with your/your child’s assigned guidance counselor, or speak with guidance staff members at any City high school to indicate your interest in August’s scheduled Regents Exams, ASAP.


  • Summer SHSAT Exams & Summer Auditions for LaGuardia H.S.
    • Note that these dates only apply to students who meet all three of the following criteria:
      • Entered eighth or ninth grade for the first time on September 2016;
      • Became NYC residents after November 1, 2016; AND
      • Did NOT participate in the fall 2016 SHSAT and/or LaGuardia High School Auditions.
