Families who are looking to have their 4-year old children placed into pre-k for the start of the 2017-18 school year can begin applying for their preferred pre-k program options TODAY.
To qualify for a pre-k seat in time for first day of the 2017-18 school year in September 2017, prospective students must reside in New York City and have been born in 2013. There are free, full-day, high-quality pre-k seats for every 4-year old in the City, and families have until February 24 to get their applications in before the main application round closes.
Finding the right pre-k program for your child has never been easier. Start off your search by using the DOE’s Pre-K Directory to identify pre-k options in your neighborhood and borough, and then use the DOE’s Pre-K Finder to learn more about your preferred pre-k programs. New to the Pre-K Finder this year are Pre-K Quality Snapshots, which are informative resources that provide clear, concise, and accessible data about individual pre-k programs. Currently, there are Snapshots available for nearly 1,800 full-day pre-k programs, and each Snapshot will be updated annually.
