Are you an eighth or first-time ninth grader who is interested in applying to one of the City’s nine Specialized High Schools? Know an eighth or first-time ninth grader who would love a chance to attend schools like Stuyvesant, Bronx High School of Science, Brooklyn Tech, Staten Island Tech, or LaGuardia?

Between now and Thursday, October 13, students who are interested in applying for the City’s Specialized High Schools must speak with their guidance counselors in order to be registered for LaGuardia High School’s audition process and/or the Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT).

Need to learn more about this year’s SHSAT testing dates and/or LaGuardia’s audition schedule? Interested in attending open houses where students and families can visit each of the nine schools and learn more about each Specialized High School? Then check out our testing and open house schedule; the first of our nine scheduled open houses will take place on Wednesday, October 5, at Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan.

We also suggest that students and families review our 2016-2017 Specialized High Schools Student Handbook, as it contains details about each of the specialized schools, including listings of academic programs and afterschool activities, as well as information about the SHSAT and LaGuardia’s audition process. This handbook may also be used to prepare for the SHSAT, as it contains sample questions and answer sheets from past SHSATs.

Finally, we encourage students and families to use the DOE’s new School Finder for more details about any of the City’s high schools, including our Specialized High Schools.

For further questions, interested students should speak with their guidance counselors or call (718) 935-2399.

Good luck, everyone!
