Unless you have been living under a rock the last couple of years, you know that we are in the middle of a presidential election season right now. And with Election Day coming up
next month on November 8, it will soon be time for us to exercise our civic responsibility to VOTE.
For high school students who will be aged 18 years or older by November 8, this Election Day marks the first time you will be able to vote and help determine who will work in the Oval Office for the next four years. Voting is a pretty big deal, as you would be helping to shape policies that will affect the lives of all Americans, including your own.
But remember: you cannot vote unless you are REGISTERED.
Between now and October 14, City students who are U.S. citizens and will be 18 years of age or older by Election Day should register to vote.
This opportunity is not something to take lightly; it is hard work maintaining a functional democracy, and voting is the most simple and fundamental way to ensure and uphold the values and rights that we all depend upon every single day.
Not sure if you are already registered? Look it up!
Hope to see you at your local polling sites on November 8!
