Now that the summer is behind us, autumn’s chill is hard at work trying to make us dig out our jackets, sweaters, boots, and scarves from their seasonal tombs in our closets, wardrobes, and drawers. But while the days are getting shorter, and the leaves are changing color, at least you can count on us to take a peek at our official Schools Calendar to see what is in store for City schools in the month ahead:

Just a quick note about our specialized high schools:

Throughout the month of October (beginning on Wednesday, October 5 at Stuyvesant High School), each of our specialized high schools will host an Open House event that will allow parents and students to learn more about each of these exciting school options. To find out when each school’s open house will take place, please review our website for more information.

Also, remember that to take the Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT), which is required for admission into 8 out of the 9 specialized high schools, students will need to speak with their guidance counselors in order to be registered for the exam. Students have until October 13 to be registered for the SHSAT. For more information, please check out the DOE’s official 2016-2017 Specialized High Schools Student Handbook.

Enjoy your October!
